Why we started
When we lost our first companion, we looked for something lasting — a stone for the garden, a marker that would outlast the seasons. Everything we found was either mass-produced, generic, or felt like it came off an assembly line. None of it felt like it was made for them.
So we started engraving ourselves. One stone at a time, with their name, their dates, and the small details that made them who they were. Friends asked us to make one for their companions. Then friends of friends. And that's how Marked by Kindness was born.
How we work
Every piece we make starts with their story. You tell us about them — their name, their dates, the things that made them who they were. We send you a proof before we touch a single stone. Nothing is engraved until you say so.
We work in stone, slate, and granite — materials that outlast us all. Every piece includes a QR code that links to a private tribute page, kept online forever at no cost. No subscription, no renewal, no way for it to quietly disappear.
Our promise
We're a small operation. When you order from us, you're talking to the people who will actually engrave your piece. We proof before we engrave, we ship in days not weeks, and we make everything in the USA by hand. If something goes wrong in shipping, we replace it. If the engraving doesn't match the proof, we redo it.
We engrave for every companion — dogs, cats, birds, horses, reptiles, fish. If they were family, they're family to us.
